What is a short story?

For me a short story is about one thing instead of many thing s like a novel.Short stories have the same elements that a novel have except telling in basic words .Short stories usually go straight to the point and they are easy  to read because most of them are under 80pg. In this short stories there is not a lot of description and because of that emotions and problems are fast to solve.And for that is easy to read it.
 

Statement after reading

After reading  the book i pick the statement "students should not tell teachers about their personal problems, no matter how serious". I am disagree  with this because the teachers may help you to find a solution a help you passing through and specially if it is a big problem they have much more experience then we have.
My  first example shows how Mr.Freeman,the art teacher, motivate Melinda to express her feeling through art .At first Melinda is interesting to do well in draw but she is not very convince that her art express any emotion so she said "I draw a horizontal line for the ground and a daisy popping up next to the tree.Somehow i don't think so Mr. Freeman is going to find much emotion in it".
My second example it shows how  a teacher knows when a kid is passing through something .After thanksgiving (a bad holy day for Melinda) Mr. Freeman see her depression through her art and Mr.Freeman understand this feeling encouraging  Melinda to express more emotions.He said "I see a girl caught int he remains of holy days gone bad ,with her flesh picked off day after day as the carcass dries out...The palm tree is a nice touch .A broken dream ,perhaps?". Then when Melinda totally finish  the project Mr.Freeman see the sculpture very serious and he said "This has meaning.Pain."He may not said "you need or how can i help you" but he tries to say to Melinda that he feels that she is sad or depress and that she don't need to tell her what is happening he understand.
My third and finally example it shows how the teacher comprise and understand a student ,trying finally talk with Melinda about her problems. When Melinda feel that she have a connection with Mr. Freeman and that he is the only one who understand her feelings.Melinda draw finally a very good in which she really express her feeling drawing a beautiful green tree with birds around it ,after drawing  this Melinda begins to cry then Mr.Freeman begin to talk and say " 'You get an A+.You worked hard at this.' He hands me a box of tissues.'You've been through a lot ,haven't you?' " . After all this Melinda decides to speak finally about what happened that day when she was raped.
Because i believe that the teachers are the most experience and they know when something is happening to a student ,and they also understand because they have more experience  .You should tell to a teacher if you have big problems they she or he  can help you .

Context /Intertex

It  puts the dialogue between Melinda and Andy.And also it describe from Melinda's  view  what it  happened when Andy threat Melinda and try to rape her again.In another books they never describe a lot what is happening  but in this books specify exactly what Andy is doing and what is Melinda try to do to scape from Andy.For example when Melinda take one bone from her sculpture   and break the mirror and with a piece of mirror try to used like a knife against Andy ,where she stand up for herself.

Diction

This particular words or phrase seem most significant.When Melinda said "The world is a dangerous place.You don't know what would have happened ".Because Melinda never thought that she will get raped.So now she is scared that if she go to the party with David it will happened again ,affected her social life and her love to David, don't knowing what to do.

Observation

In this Marking period we see a lot how really silly this school system is. Melinda resorts to sarcasm to show how silly the authority figures around her really are. Her commentary is reflective of her feeling that adults don’t understand kids her age, nor do they seem to care.We can also see how This marking period is also a good example of how those in authority(teachers) can misuse their power and impact on those younger and more impressionable in an unacceptable way.

Character analysis

Melinda is a character that just pass to high school  where she is outcast  for everybody in her grade. Rachel her best friend  in middle school is not anymore her friend. Then Melinda tired of been alone she became friend with Heather anew girl from Ohio .She seems very depress and that nobody can understand her even though she has Heather "her friend",she seems immerse in a world of silence.The only way that she express her feelings is through the art and is the only subject that she has an A.She wants to speak and to say thing that she likes or don't like but for some reason she is not able to say something.

Statement

I choose the statement "there is a difference between  being quiet and and being withdrawn". I am agree with this statement because people that is quiet is shy to talk or to  know new  people and they still interacting with people. But people that are withdrawn  don't  interact or  talk  with another person ,they are distant ,and some depress.
     The following example shows what quiet means . When i came to here , U.S, i couldn't  speak well English . I was very shy to talk  in English,well I've  always been  a little shy to talk to new people or to talk  in public but I still have friends , which the majority of them where quiet in school  or in another parts like me but when where together we really talk a lot  and interact with people like normal people. But  when i came here there was a totally new culture ,new people and a totally different language , that makes me very nervous  because i thought  that when  i was going to talk i will  make a mistake and nobody could understand me , which happened a lot ,but I still try to make friends and to talk to somebody that could understand me  and even if they dont , i just try to practice my english. And even right now i dont talk that much just with my friends because i am not a person that expressive.
    My second following example shows what is a withdrawn person.I would say that  a withdrawn person will appear uninterested in what is going on around him/her and not alert, not a part of the environment and overall very stuck in his/herself .

Withdrawing from other people can be a way of dealing with difficult emotions such as anger, sadness or fear. These sorts of feelings can be triggered by negative experiences, such as being undermined or patronised. If we identify and then avoid the triggers to a person's difficult feelings, the person may well become more engaged with others around them.Withdrawal may be a sign that someone is depressed.
Like Melinda she is passing through  depression in her life she is not able to talk and she don't really want to interact with people.
And for all this i think being quiet it means just to be shy and not to talk that much in public o with new people and withdraw is be in another world and don't know what is going on with the people that is around you  is why i say that they are totally different .

Just Listen was the first book i read by Sarah Dessen i which you can see all from Annabel perspective and know what she thinks and all her problems she is passing through.For me it was a real good book at first i didn't like it a lot because she had many problems and it was depressing but then when it looks she is solving her problems i couldn't stop  reading  the book.
This book from another book that i read is totally different the truth is that i never read a novel quite like this.

Just Listen was the first book i read by Sarah Dessen. This book made me want to read another books for this author ,because i fell she have an strong connection with the teenagers (how thy think,their problem, how they feel) . I fell in love in the way Sarah characterized Owen Armstrong. He became like my dream guy.

I will that i give to this book 4 paws=Pounce on it .

Pricey vs. Priceless

In this time where society expense ridiculous amount of money in ridiculous things .If one of your loved ones were to die tomorrow what would you treasure more, your designer purse & smartphone or the beautiful and timeless moment with your loved one ? It is possible for us to Know what is the difference between something that is priceless and something with financial  significance?
For sure always in our lives there are going to be pricey and priceless things. Between them there is a huge different even the feeling that they express. But you can also find things that are pricey and priceless at the same time.

Something with financial significance you bought, at first you get excited, but with the course of time that thing loses the value or you just change it and you even don’t remember any more.

One example of this before we came to U.S we used to life in Peru. Then when we first get here we used to life with my uncle and his family  it was a little uncomfortable for me, we don’t had a lot of privacy because it was not usual for us to live with other people . Then we moved in a little but big new apartment, when we first entered i just could smelt the  painting every where i was really excited ,and all the rooms white it was so pretty ,and we felt more comfortable .Also we bought a lot of thing for the house i think it was that what make more excited to move in.Now we are looking now to move to another place.

One of the things that are priceless and pricey I think it was my house in back in Peru .It  is priceless for all the moments that take place in there, that house was the one that I lived from my birth until one year ago. When I  remember my old house it make me nostalgic.

Priceless moments are those you will remember forever, that you enjoy with the person or people you love most in life, and that serve as a reminder of your love for them.  Priceless moments may even change your perspective, or give you a renewed passion for life.  Priceless moments are priceless specifically because they are rare, because if you did them every day they’d be mundane.

An example of this is the moment that I get my puppy 7 years ago and I still remember that moment.
I remember   I was begging to my mom a sister or brother because I felt alone all my friends had a little brother or sister and I was the only one that it didn’t have another baby in the family. After each conversation with my mom she always tell me “Tell to your father” and my father tell me “Tell to your mother”. And then I remember I was very sad and mad , I just begin to cry and tell to my mom that I felt alone and if they don’t want to have another kid I just want a pet . The next day we went by a place in Peru that sell a lot of  pet I said to my dad “ I want to see some pets”. We enter to the place I said to my dad that really like some of then but he tell me not to by them and then he tell me a secret “In mom’s work ,she was talking with a client ,this client said that she have a lot of puppies and she is giving the puppies because she is going to move to another country and your mom tomorrow is going with you to her clients house to see the puppies and to pick one.

But don’t tell to your mom that I told you this”. We went to the house I see a lot of puppies all of them were pugs they were very funny I play with all four of them. Until the owner of the puppies told me “Choose one.”I remember one of them went with the owner , the other one went with the husband’s owner, the other one with one employee and the last one sat in front of me and I definitely choose that one. A moment that I am always going to remember, a priceless moment, is when I meet my “little brother”.

For all this I am so sure that pricey and priceless things are totally different. Things that I bought I get excited for just a short period and you don’t remember anymore .But experiences that are priceless always are going to be in your heart.

His feeling all messy and the pressure prevented that Ender could sleep making him get out of his bedroom just to take a breath. Far away he saw a door open he walk until get to the front of that door and then he listen the “clack clack” of someone coming without know what to do and where to go he hide in that room. When Ender enter get surprise to found a big machine asking to himself  he said “what is this?” with out noticed that  he push a button making the machine to talk and said “This is the future and past machine number1080 how can I help you?

a. Do you want go to the past ?

b. Do you want go to the future?

c. Do you want to see a generation from the past?

and….”

Before the machine keeps talking he  without thinking press the button .The machine continued talking “I just need a finger print and bead of blood”. That Ender give it to the weird  machine.

- “Am I dreaming? Where I am? Why I am in an old reservation? My ancestor was a Native American?” .

In front of him there was a little house he open the door and he saw a boy  it was a native American it  was skinny; has an over-sized head, hands, and feet; with a very think glasses you see one eye larger than the other  .When  the boy passed by Ender noticed that the boy couldn’t see him.

-          “How you enter here Rowdy?”

-          “I just enter the door was open”

-          Hey! Junior do you want to play basketball?

-          Yeah! sure

-          Let’s go!

In Junior’s first day of high school, his geometry teacher, Mr. P, hands out textbooks to the students that also .

-“Geometry is  my favorite subject”

-“ Wait !This book had been used by my  mother, who was thirty years old when she gave birth to me, thus making the textbook at least thirty years older than myself.”

Angered and saddened by the fact that the Spokane reservation is so poor as to be unable to afford new textbooks for its high school. Arnold violently throws the book, which ends up colliding with Mr. P.

-“Oh no! are you kidding me! How he couldn’t saw Mr. P. He will get suspends “

He was visited at the front porch of his family's house by a bandaged Mr. P, to whom Junior apologizes. They spook about various things, such as why Junior threw the textbook and about the fact that Junior's sister (Mary Spirit, who is often referred to by the nickname "Mary Runs Away" and who spends most of her time in Junior’s home's basement) had a desire to write romance novels. Mr. P, having seen many bright Spokane Indians (among them Junior's sister) lose hope and a desire to succeed after experiencing life on the reservation, believes that Junior, a relatively bright student, Mr. P think that he deserves more than what he will get from continuing to live where he is now. He goes so far as to suggest that Junior leave the reservation in search of a brighter future. Junior , prompted by Mr. P's suggestion that he leave the reservation, gets some words of advice: "You can't give up. You won't give up. You threw that book in my face because somewhere inside, you refuse to give up." Hearing that Junior  decides to transfer to Reardan-the school full of rich white kids in the countryside. Though Junior's mother is an ex-drunk and his father a drunk, they do not wish their children to end up like them and, like Mr. P, believe that there is hope for Junior off the reservation; thus they allow him to transfer to Reardan's high school. Junior's decision brings harsh criticism from all the Reservation and violence from his best friend Rowdy, who declares Junior a "white lover" and attacks him.

-“He is like me ,suffering a lot  and nobody related that the while that the others native Americans make fun of him thinking that  he is retarded but he is not ,he is more intelligent then the others . He still has hope.”

When a voice said “Low Battery.”

Junior turns his head and see this guy and said “Who are you?!!! What are you doing in my room?!!!”

-“I don’t know .I just was in a room with this weird machine that transported me to the past and then said “low battery” .I am serious!!”

-“That explains the weird clothes. Well whatever hi! My name is Junior.”

-“Yeah! I know I spy you!”

-“Are you crazy?”

-“Well this machine make me invisible and I didn’t know how to go back so I just stay here spying you”

-“So the food messing and the door open was you”

-“Now where to go?”

-“I suppose you can stay in my sister’s room she now live in the basement”

-How are you going to go back to the future ?

-I just don’t want to go back to my world 

-why?

-You have hope and your family is with you  and I don’t have anybody and nobody to trust ,no family ,no hope ,no …nothing !! and just in imagine all is in my hands. And I am the hope of the world.

Ender saw all Junior life On his  first day at Reardan, his father drives him the twenty-two miles from the reservation to the school. The only Indian to attend the school, he was treated somewhat as an outcast by the other students, and taunting and threatening remarks from a group of boys eventually drive Junior to violence.                                                                                Despite his troubles, Junior begins to enjoy Reardan, developing a crush on a white girl, Penelope who found that his real name is Arnold , and making friends with a student named Gordy. Arnold always trying  to talk to Rowdy. He tells him about how he's falling in love with Penelope: "'Hey Rowdy' 'I'm in love with a white girl. What should I do?' 'Hey Asshole,' Rowdy wrote back. 'I'm sick of Indian guys who treat white women like bowling trophies. Get a life. Rowdy gets mad every time they communicate, even when Arnold knocks on Rowdy's door to give him a picture he drew of the "good old times.: His father answers the door and is just as rude as Rowdy himself, saying: "Yeah, I'll give it. Even if it is a little gay."
His sister, who eloped and moved to Montana, dies in a trailer fire, his father's friend Eugene is shot in the face, and his grandmother is run over by a drunk driver.

-          I have see all this and he still has hope  and he don’t give up in nothing .Make me thimk why I need to give up a lot of people need me maybe this is my purpose in life is why I born to safe the world maybe I am not doing this for myself I am doing this for all the people that need me that want to life.I am hope.

When Ender appear in the same room that he was but this time there was no machine.Now this time hearing a voice that was saying  “I know this was going to help him the reason of his existence”.Then Ender open his eyes he was late to practice.
